Fairy Doors are elements of design (usually small) that put a smile on the user’s face. The trend began in Ann Arbor, MI, where miniature doors were sometimes constructed next to their normal-sized counterparts. Customers are often charmed by these cute Fairy Doors, spurring an exiting train of thought that puts the customer in a pleasant mood.
In design, a Fairy Door can be something as simple as OS X’s animated “genie” effect, or a particle sparkle from a click. Think of ways to charm your players with little extras and surprising charms. They’ll love the attention you put into the game, and you’ll love their patronage!
